Thought Leadership vs. Content Marketing

 


Agency people get this question: should we do thought leadership or should we do content marketing?

That's like asking "Should I get a sports car or should I get a car?"

First thing is, if you can get a sports car, then you should.

The second thing is, if you are getting a sports car, then you are also getting a car. 

So, it isn't sports car vs. car. 

It's more like what kind of car do you want? 

What kind of effect do you want your content marketing to have?

If you want a high performance car you like to drive, then a sports car is a good choice.

If you just want to get to work, then it doesn't matter.

If you want high performance content marketing, then you have to go with thought leadership. 

If you just want to have content on the web so you meet a quota of pages for your boss or something, and the effect it has on the people reading it doesn't matter, then do content marketing without thought leadership.
